Home Insurance: Compare Quotes Nationwide
Homeowners insurance covers your house, personal belongings, and personal liability if someone is injured on your property. Mortgage lenders require it; even paid-off homeowners need it for fire, theft, and liability protection.

Homeowners insurance pays to repair or rebuild your house and replace your belongings after a covered loss such as fire, wind, hail or theft. It also covers you if someone is hurt on your property. Your mortgage lender will require it. Signature Insurance compares several home carriers side by side and can bundle your auto for a lower total price.
- Dwelling (Coverage A)Rebuilding the house itself. Set it to the cost to rebuild, not the market value.
- Other structures (Coverage B)Detached garages, fences, sheds and similar structures.
- Personal property (Coverage C)Furniture, clothing, electronics and other belongings, at home or away.
- Loss of use (Coverage D)Hotel, meals and extra living costs while your home is being repaired.
- Personal liability (Coverage E)Lawsuits and injuries you're responsible for, on or off your property.
- Optional endorsementsWater backup, service lines, scheduled jewelry, and equipment breakdown.
What Drives Your Home Insurance Price
- The cost to rebuild: square footage, construction type and finishes
- The age and condition of your roof
- Where you live: weather exposure, and distance to a fire station and hydrant
- Your deductible, including a separate wind or hail deductible where one applies
- Your claims history
- Your credit-based insurance score, in the states that allow it
- Discounts: bundling with auto, new roof, security and smoke alarms, being claims-free
Each carrier weighs these factors differently, so the same person can get very different quotes. As an independent agency, Signature Insurance compares several carriers for you at once, and we can shop your policy again at renewal.
Home Insurance FAQ
Replacement cost vs actual cash value — which should I choose?
Replacement cost. ACV pays you what your stuff is worth today (depreciated), which is rarely enough to actually replace it. Replacement cost pays the full cost to buy new — almost always worth the small premium difference.
Is flood damage covered by my homeowners policy?
No. Flood is excluded from every standard homeowners policy in every state. You need a separate NFIP or private flood policy. We can quote both — call us to find out if your address is in a flood zone.
How much dwelling coverage do I need?
Enough to rebuild your home at today's construction costs. That is often different from what the house would sell for, and a low dwelling limit is the most common costly mistake we see.
Does homeowners insurance cover water damage?
Sudden and accidental water damage, like a burst pipe, is usually covered. Gradual leaks, flooding and sewer backup usually are not unless you add the right coverage.
Does it cover my belongings outside the house?
Yes, personal property coverage generally follows your belongings anywhere, subject to your deductible and any special limits on items like jewelry.
Will my rate go down if I bundle auto and home?
Usually. Most carriers give a multi-policy discount on both policies. We quote the bundle and the policies separately so you can see which is cheaper.
