Auto Insurance: Compare Quotes Nationwide
Auto insurance protects you financially if your car is involved in an accident, stolen, vandalized, or damaged by weather. Most US states require at least liability coverage by law.
Get a Car Insurance QuoteWhat Auto Insurance Covers
Auto insurance pays for injuries and damage you cause to other people (liability) and, if you add them, repairs to your own car (collision and comprehensive). Nearly every state requires liability coverage, and a lender or leasing company will require collision and comprehensive on a financed car. As an independent agency, Signature Insurance compares several carriers for you in one conversation.
- Liability (bodily injury + property damage)Injuries and damage you cause to others. This is the part your state requires.
- CollisionRepairs to your car after a crash with another vehicle or object, whoever is at fault, minus your deductible.
- ComprehensiveTheft, hail, flood, fire, falling trees and animal strikes.
- Uninsured / underinsured motoristProtects you and your passengers when the at-fault driver has no insurance or too little.
- Medical payments / PIPMedical bills for you and your passengers. PIP is required in no-fault states such as Kentucky, Florida and Michigan.
- Rental reimbursement + roadsideA rental car while yours is in the shop, plus towing, jump-starts and lockouts.
What Drives Your Auto Insurance Price
- Your driving record: accidents and tickets in the last 3 to 5 years
- Your age and years of driving experience
- The vehicle: repair cost, safety ratings and theft rates
- Your ZIP code and how many miles you drive each year
- Your credit-based insurance score, in the states that allow it
- The limits and deductibles you pick
- Discounts: bundling with home or renters, multiple cars, paying in full, a clean record
Each carrier weighs these factors differently, so the same person can get very different quotes. As an independent agency, Signature Insurance compares several carriers for you at once, and we can shop your policy again at renewal.
Auto Insurance FAQ
How much auto insurance do I need?
At minimum, the liability limits your state requires — but most agents recommend 100/300/100 ($100k bodily injury per person, $300k per accident, $100k property damage) plus uninsured-motorist coverage. If you have meaningful assets to protect, layer an umbrella policy on top.
What discounts can I qualify for?
Common ones we shop for: multi-policy (auto + home), multi-vehicle, paid-in-full, paperless, good driver, defensive driving course, low mileage, telematics, good student, military/affiliation, and homeowner discount (even if your home is insured elsewhere).
What does "full coverage" mean?
It isn't an official coverage. It usually means liability plus collision and comprehensive, so your own car is covered along with the damage you do to others.
Should I drop collision on an older car?
If the car is worth less than a few years of collision and comprehensive premiums, or you could replace it out of pocket, dropping them can make sense. We can price it both ways.
Will one accident raise my rate?
An at-fault accident usually raises premiums for 3 to 5 years. Not-at-fault and comprehensive claims typically affect price less. How much depends on the carrier, which is one reason to compare.
Why use an independent agency instead of buying direct?
One call gets you quotes from several carriers, and if your rate jumps at renewal we can shop it again. You don't have to start over.
